Ravers Over 40

Yes yes you ravers! (Show us your lazers!)

A lone dancer under laser beams on an empty dancefloor

Remember when BPMs used to peak at 150 and they didn't require a ticket to enter? Hand-drawn flyers, drives around the orbital, when EDM was a type of cheese? We remember you! Meet more over-40 ravers here – the party continues! (Then possibly, an early night.)

You're far from the only one still out

In 2019, figures reported by DJ Mag and Dancing Astronaut put the number of Brits over 45 going raving once a week at more than 3.7 million. Among the EverGroovers – an Eventbrite group of older clubbers led by former Kiss FM DJ Gordon Mac – 24% said they rave more in their 40s than they did when they were younger, and 60% said nothing would stop them. When a 2017 survey claimed clubbing turns “tragic” at 37, Mixmag asked a room full of lifers, and the answer was clear: the music belongs to everyone, and plenty enjoy it more now they're comfortable in their own skin. (Source: Mixmag.) As The Everyday Magazine put it in 2025, there's no shame in being a silver-haired regular on the dancefloor. (Source: The Everyday Magazine.)

What the lifers say

The people Mixmag spoke to were honest about it. One said the hangovers aren't worse, they just last for days now. Another remembered acid house crowds being mixed in age and background from the start – people were there for the music, not to check anyone's birth certificate. And over at The Everyday Magazine, the point was that events like the Caister Soul Weekender now draw crowds who've been dancing for decades.

You'll be in good company here

Most people on Raver Dating are somewhere between their mid-30s and mid-50s, so you won't be the oldest person in the room – online or off.

Earlier starts, earlier finishes

Raving doesn't have to mean 6am any more. Day raves have taken off across the UK – Day Fever runs 3pm to 8pm parties around the country and draws a crowd that thought its clubbing days were over, and Annie Mac's Before Midnight starts at 7pm and finishes at midnight. (Source: Tempus.) Great for a first date, and you're still home for the late news.
